For the office that must see the grid and must not operate it

A grid control archive an agent may read. Not a setpoint.

A grid control archive is the history a control system already keeps for office users. PSIcontrol offers it through a browser and a web service. PSIprins 9 can export the series into IT. Spectrum Power 5 trains operators to export from HIS. HIGH-LEIT keeps a message archive and Excel reports. None of those reads is a setpoint.

The boundary PSI already wrote

Office users may see the grid. They must not interfere with network operations. An agent on that view inherits the same sentence.

Not a second control system

What a grid control archive question is

  • A named point. The archive value for a feeder, a station or a pipe, in a window the office view already shows.
  • A copy time. PSIprins 9 exports operational series from OT into IT. The export is a copy. The answer says so.
  • A refused command. The PSIcontrol programming interface can query state, read the archive, and issue a command. Only the first two are even candidates. The command is out.

Three products, one limit

How each grid control archive is actually offered

Web service

PSIcontrol

The historical module stores on SQL and offers the data to external clients through a browser and a web service. The same vendor trains a programming interface that can also issue commands. We sign the archive, not the command.

Export

PSIprins and Spectrum

PSIprins 9, announced 30 June 2025, can move time series from OT into IT. Siemens trains Spectrum Power 5 operators to export from the Historical Information System. Neither page publishes a path an agent can call.

Report

HIGH-LEIT

VIVAVIS archives messages and process values, evaluates them in the system, and ships Excel reports. A seminar covers archiving and logging. Standardised interfaces are claimed. A path list is not on the product page.

PSIprins is not PSIcontrol, and HIGH-LEIT is not a GIS

PSI sells both. PSIcontrol is the control system whose archive is documented for non-control-room users. PSIprins is the network control system with more than 100 installations, and release 9 is the one that talks about exporting series into IT. An agent pointed at the wrong name will ask the wrong desk.

HIGH-LEIT can push switch states into CAIGOS so the GIS colours the low-voltage network. That coupling is a real interface, documented by CAIGOS, including at Stadtwerke Neuwied. It is still a coupling between two systems of record. It is not permission for an assistant to change a switch state in either of them.

Befehlsgabe sits in the PSIcontrol training next to archive access. Proximity is not permission.

No MCP server for PSIcontrol, PSIprins, Spectrum Power 5 or HIGH-LEIT was described on the pages read on 8 October 2026.

When the operator screen is the right tool

If the person is in the control room, they already have the screen. An agent belongs in the office view PSI already separated from operations. The commercial shape of that read is a utility source system connector, archive only. CAIGOS beside HIGH-LEIT is a GIS question, and it belongs with the network documentation the crew already carries.

From the archive to the neighbouring desk

What the control-room neighbour will ask

What may an agent ask a grid control archive?

What the archive recorded for a named point, in a named window, for a person who is already allowed to see that office view. PSI says that office view must not interfere with network operations. The answer carries the copy time.

Does PSIcontrol have an API that can also switch?

The SCADA programming interface training covers both archive access and command issuing. From PSIcontrol 4.9 a wider interface may exist. The archive read is the question. The command is not a tool, even though it sits on the same interface family.

Is Spectrum Power 5 HIS a public API?

Siemens trains people to retrieve history in HISWebUI, to build displays, to export, and it mentions additional interfaces. The 2025 course catalogue does not publish a path. The blueprint starts from the export your installation already runs.

What does it cost to find out whether this archive can be read?

A two-week Readiness Blueprint at €4,900 net. We name the control system, the release and one archive question, and we stop if the only path is a command. A production read is usually a pilot from €15,000.

Next step

Name the archive question the office already asks

Two weeks. We look at the export you already run, and we stop if the only interface can also switch.
