MCP connectors for the systems your vendor will not build one for
Pexon builds MCP connectors and custom APIs that let Claude, ChatGPT and Copilot reach the source systems European manufacturers and utilities run. The catalogue maps 90 ERP, MES, PLM, quality, maintenance and energy systems, checked in September 2026: which interface each system exposes, and whether its vendor ships an MCP server.
The protocol is ready. The systems mostly are not.
Most of what a manufacturer knows sits in a handful of systems nobody outside engineering or operations has heard of: a PLM holding every released revision, a historian holding ten years of process data, an MES holding the genealogy of every serial number, and an ERP that is usually not the one in the vendor demos. An assistant that cannot reach them answers from whatever someone pasted in.
We checked 90 of those systems for one thing: can an agent reach it today through a server the vendor maintains? For most of them the answer is still no. Where the answer is yes, the vendor's server often ships write and configuration tools alongside the read tools, and in some cases enables them by default. Both cases end in the same work, which is building or restricting a server so it exposes named operations, runs as the person asking and leaves an audit trail.
The person's identity, not a service account
Every tool call runs as the person who asked. Their token is exchanged for the source system's own authorisation, so the answer is bounded by what they could already open. Where a system can only authenticate one technical user, we narrow the tool list to what may be shared and write down which subset that is.
Named operations, not raw access
A server publishes where_used, get_open_changes or read_tag_history, each with a typed input and a documented result. No free SQL, no generic call_endpoint. A tool list is something a plant manager and a security reviewer can read and sign.
Read-only below level 3.5
Nothing an agent does may reach a controller. OT data is read from a historian or a DMZ copy; writes happen only in systems of record, through the application's own logic, and each one is logged with the person attached.
90 source systems and where MCP stands in each
Checked on 19 and 21 September 2026. 5 systems have a generally available vendor server on live data, 5 a preview or limited release, 10 an announcement without a product, and 70 nothing from the vendor. "No vendor server" does not mean no server exists: community and commercial ones are named in the last column, and most of them describe themselves as prototypes.

90 systems. Sources are vendor documentation, vendor press releases and the public repositories of community servers, read on 19 and 21 September 2026; where a vendor page could not be fetched, the row says only what the vendor has stated elsewhere. Vendors are shipping MCP servers month by month, so a row is a dated observation, not a permanent fact. If yours is out of date, the contact page reaches the engineer who maintains this table.
One system, one tool list, then the next system is cheaper
The first connector carries the work that every later one reuses: the identity exchange with your directory, the audit log, the evaluation fixtures and the deployment into your own environment. The per-system part is the tool list and the knowledge of where that system's permission model and data model bite, which is what each connector page below writes down.
The protocol side, what an MCP server is and how we build one for any internal system, is on Claude MCP server development. This page is the systems half: which system, which interface, which vendor has already done part of the job.

Questions about MCP connectors
Why build connectors for systems like proALPHA, Abacus or Schleupen.CS?
Because their vendors mostly will not. Of the 50 regional ERP, MES, quality and utility systems in this catalogue, one ships a generally available MCP server on live data as of 21 September 2026. Most have a documented API or web services, often behind a partner login, and a small engineering team with other priorities. That is the gap a custom connector fills.
What is an MCP server for an industrial system?
It is a small service that publishes a fixed list of named operations against one system, such as get_bom, where_used or read_tag_history, so an assistant like Claude can call them instead of receiving database access. The Model Context Protocol standardises the shape, so the same server works with any client that speaks it. The engineering is in which operations exist, whose identity they run under, and what is logged.
Our vendor has announced an MCP server. Should we wait for it?
Wait if the announcement names your product, your version and a date, and if you only need that one system. Build if the agent has to combine systems, for example a BOM from Windchill against the material master in SAP, because no vendor server crosses its own product boundary. Several vendor servers we checked also ship write and configuration tools, some enabled by default, so even the vendor's server usually needs a restricted deployment.
Do you already have connectors for all 90 systems?
No. The table is a map of where each vendor stands and which interface a server is built against, not a product list. We build per engagement, against your instance, with your permission model. The systems that have their own page are the ones where we have written up the integration surface, the hard parts and a realistic first tool list.
Can an agent write to an OT system or a validated MES?
We design for read-only on anything that controls a process, and for proposal-only on validated systems such as pharma MES and LIMS, where a human signs. Writes go into systems of record like ERP or maintenance only through the application's own logic, one named operation at a time, with the person's identity attached. That rule costs some convenience and removes the question a safety review would otherwise stop the project on.
What does the first connector cost?
The two-week Readiness Blueprint is fixed at €4,900: one system, an agreed tool list, a test of whether the identity model carries through, and a costed build plan. A first production connector is usually a use-case pilot from €15,000. All prices are net and exclude VAT.
Not a sales call. An architecture call.
Thirty minutes with the architect who would actually run the engagement.
