01 · Identity
One login for every caller
A service account in Schleupen.CS, ENER:GY or IS-U sees every contract that account can see. The person who asked does not.
Utility billing integration at a municipal utility is one read path per billing system, under the login of the person asking. Schleupen.CS exposes an SLP energy quantity and a business partner. Wilken ENER:GY, kVASy, SAP IS-U and WinEV do not publish an equivalent list. Pexon keeps the send right for market messages inside the billing system.
01 · Identity
A service account in Schleupen.CS, ENER:GY or IS-U sees every contract that account can see. The person who asked does not.
02 · Market
Market communication is AS4 and EDIFACT. A tool that can post a message will post one, on a prompt, under nobody's name.
03 · Scope
MAIA answers Schleupen documentation. GY:PT explains a Wilken process step. Neither opens the other system's contract.
04 · Release
Schleupen's general-ledger interface and the EDM master-data export are CS 3.0 interfaces. An older installation does not have them.
The first shape is the assistant the vendor shipped. Schleupen has MAIA for documentation and announced a model hub on 27 January 2026. Wilken announced GY:PT on 11 March 2026, inside GY and ENER:GY, to explain process steps. Both are useful to a clerk who is already in that screen. A question that starts in the contract and ends in the network, or in the schedule, never leaves the product.
The second shape is a copy of the database, or one technical user that the model queries. PwC's February 2020 study already listed how wide these suites are: billing, market communication, device management, and often the ledger. A login that can read all of that answers a question the asking person is not allowed to ask. At a municipal utility the same person is not in supplier, grid and metering-point roles at once, and the system usually is.
Lemgo and Rosenheim show which suite a utility of this size is moving to, not a percentage of the market. PwC wrote in February 2020 that the survey could not support market shares. Schleupen states that every fourth German Stadtwerk uses Schleupen.CS. Lemgo is moving 65,000 supplier contracts off SAP IS-U onto Schleupen.CS, posted into the SAP general ledger. Rosenheim, about 90,000 contracts, signed on 7 July 2026 to do the same for supplier, grid and metering, with a target of the first quarter of 2028. kVASy took Strausberg, Ludwigsfelde and Neuruppin off IS-U on a contract dated 29 July 2025. Wilken did not sit in the PwC study; Stadtwerke SH still put more than 200,000 market locations on ENER:GY. WinEV, in that same 2020 study, billed more than 3 million customers. Those five are the billing systems a 300-person utility is choosing among. msu and Somentec sit in the same size band. powercloud sits with the larger installations.
01
Schleupen web services take Windows authentication or OpenID Connect, plus a session token from a separate call. The other four systems have not published an equivalent. Until they do, that installation is not in the pilot.
02
On Schleupen.CS the reads we will put in a tool list are the ones the public surface already names: SLP energy quantity for a market location, market locations that changed, business-partner master data.
03
Schleupen's Lemgo release says billable contracts are recognised and billed automatically, and only clarification cases go to staff. The agent may help list what a person still has to clear. There is no published exception API, so that list is not a tool until the installation shows one.
04
AS4, with certificates Schleupen issues, carries the messages to other market parties. The agent does not send them and does not answer them.
Use cases
| System | Question it can hold today | Still a person |
|---|---|---|
| Schleupen.CS | SLP quantity, changed market locations, business partner, on the release that exposes them | Sending or answering an AS4 market message |
| Wilken ENER:GY | GY:PT explains a process step inside the product. No public object list | Any contract read, until the Integration Layer on your release is opened |
| kVASy | The business question is the same. No public API catalogue in our research | The whole read, until SIV shows the interface on that installation |
| SAP IS-U | The system Lemgo and Rosenheim are leaving. Not a published agent surface here | Do not point this question at a manufacturing S/4HANA connector and call it IS-U |
| WinEV | PwC 2020: more than 3 million customers billed. No public API in this research | The read, until iS Software's interface on your release is confirmed |
Read 6 October 2026. PwC, February 2020, is the size band. Schleupen, Wilken, SIV and the two Stadtwerke press releases are the later facts. Cells that say the interface is unpublished are unpublished.
Schleupen.CS, the one published path
01
Schleupen web services take Windows authentication or OpenID Connect, then a session token from a separate call. The other four billing systems have not published an equivalent, so they are not in the pilot.
02
SLP energy quantity for a market location, market locations that changed, business-partner master data. The general-ledger interface and the EDM master-data export are CS 3.0. An older release does not have them.
03
AS4, with certificates Schleupen issues, carries Wechsel and the rest to other market parties. Lemgo's continuous billing still sends clarification cases to staff. There is no published exception API to automate that queue.
Wilken, kVASy, IS-U and WinEV stay on the comparison above with an empty tool list. An empty list is the finding, until that installation shows a read.
Policy, not a live call
Three lines. The first binds the call to a person. The second names a read that exists on Schleupen.CS. The third is the market message, which is absent on purpose.
caller: session-token under the asking user
allow: slp_energy_quantity, changed_locations, business_partner
deny: send_market_messageOn Wilken, kVASy and WinEV the allow list stays empty until that installation shows a read. An empty list is a result.
When the vendor assistant is the right buy
If the only question is how a screen in Schleupen or Wilken works, MAIA or GY:PT is the shorter path, and a server in front of the contract is wasted. If the question is the contract itself, start with the Schleupen integration or the Wilken ENER:GY integration, then the network record the same customer sits on.
PwC's February 2020 study refused a market-share table. What it does show is a mid-size band up to 500,000 metering points, and Schleupen.CS, Wilken, kVASy, SAP IS-U and WinEV are the names that band keeps producing. Schleupen states that every fourth German Stadtwerk uses Schleupen.CS. Lemgo (65,000 contracts) and Rosenheim (about 90,000 contracts) both left SAP IS-U for it.
No. On Schleupen the market path is AS4 with client certificates and EDIFACT. The connector we would build can read status at most. Sending or answering a market message stays a job inside the billing system, under the clerk who already has that right.
They are assistants inside one product. MAIA answers documentation questions. GY:PT, announced by Wilken on 11 March 2026, explains process steps and regulatory text inside GY and ENER:GY. Neither reads a contract in the other four systems, and neither carries the asking person's login into a second system.
A two-week Readiness Blueprint at €4,900 net. We open one installation, confirm which of the five systems it is and which release, and come back with the tool list that installation actually exposes. A first production server, once that list exists, is usually a use-case pilot from €15,000.
Then we operate it, in your environment, or it should not be built yet. The server remains your code. Monitoring starts at €3,000 per month when you want us to keep it through billing-system upgrades. An allocated engineer is a separate rung.
Next step
Two weeks. Bring the system name and the release. We tell you which questions that release can answer, and which ones are still a clerk's job.
